Annie Duke and Phil Helmuth Leave UB; Lee Jones Out at Cake Poker

by Lou on January 3, 2011

You could see this one coming a mile away, at least as far as Phil Helmuth was concerned.  When he ceased wearing UB logos on his shirts and hats while commentating at the WSOP final table, you knew his relationship with that site was on its last legs.

But Annie Duke beat him to the punch, announcing on her blog that she was leaving UB.  Duke said, “I have nothing but positive things to say about UB and my experiences with the brand, management team, and dedicated employees who work hard every day to deliver a terrific online poker experience for players like you.  So why am I leaving UB? In a nutshell, professional and personal growth.”

Helmuth’s announcement—which followed Annie Duke’s—was no surprise once it surfaced.

Changes are afoot at Cake Poker too.  Former cardroom manager Lee Jones has resigned his position stating that he was uncomfortable with some management decisions.  Following Jones announcement, tournament director Serge “Adanhar” Ravitch also announced his resignation from Cake.
