2008 WSOP Champ Peter Eastgate Puts Braclet Up for Sale at eBay

2008 World Series of Poker main event champion Peter Eastgate put his championship bracelet up for sale on eBay a few days ago in an auction that will close November 25.

Eastgate won $9,152,416 for his 2008 victory and at the time, he was the youngest winner in the event’s history.  Eastgate announced he was quitting poker earlier this year, and would look for something else to do.

When I first heard he was selling his bracelet, I thought he might have blown through all his winnings and needed the money.  It wouldn’t be the first time; it’s happened to other bracelet winners before, but apparently that’s not the case.  Eastgate announced that all of the money from the bracelet’s sale will be donated to UNICEF, which supports child survival, protection, and development worldwide through education, advocacy, and fundraising.

If you’re interested in bidding, you can go to http://cgi.ebay.com/World-Series-Poker-Main-Event-Bracelet-2008-/330496918404?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf326c384.  Bidding began at $16,000, but as of late Thursday PST, the bidding had reached $45,000 and there are still six days remaining in this auction.

A description of Eastgate’s bracelet on eBay says:

The unique piece of a Corum bracelet weighs 168 [grams] and is made of 18kt White Gold paved with 291 diamonds and the face, which says “World Series of Poker 2008,” is hand painted in silver and decorated with black and red card suits.
