FBI Raids Two Bay Area Cardrooms

by Lou on March 3, 2011

FBI, state, and local authorities raided two Bay Area cardrooms: the Oaks Card Club in Emeryville and Artichoke Joe’s in San Bruno.  The raid was part of an investigation into organized crime.

The FBI later said that officers from seven different agencies, including the state’s Bureau of Gambling Control, executed search and arrest warrants relating to an criminal investigation in the Bay Area.  But that’s all they said, and most observers are still in the dark about this.

The raid was a surprise to club management as well as players.  According to one supervisor at the Oaks, “I know nothing more than what you see on the TV. They aren’t even letting me in.”

Obviously, there’s more to come on this story, and we’ll keep you updated as we get news.
