Lederer and Ferguson Suspended by Epic Poker League

by Lou on September 24, 2011

Three days ago the fledging Epic Poker League issued a statement suspending Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson (pictured) indefinitely, pending the outcome of the Department of Justice’s action.  Both players were named in an amended indictment filed by DOJ against Full Tilt Poker’s board of directors.

The EPL’s Standards and Conduct Committee includes Martin, Tournament Director Matt Savage, league members Eric Baldwin, Andy Bloch, Chad Brown, Hoe Hachem, Mike McDonald, Nick Schulman, Alec Torelli, and non-voting EPL Commissioner Annie Duke, who is Lederer’s sister. The committee did not address Rafe Furst, who was also named in the indictment, but did not qualify for a tour card.

EPL is off to a rock start where player conduct issues are concerned.  Lederer and Ferguson are the third and fourth players to face disciplinary action, following inaugural winner David “Chino” Rheem, who was suspended for failing to pay his poker debts, and Michael DiVita, who was found to be a convicted sex offender.
